Mohamed is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA), and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sierra Leone (ICASL).  He has extensive experience in Public Sector Financial Management. He holds a BA (Hons) from the Sheffield Hallam University in UK, and an MSc in professional Accountancy from the University of London.

Prior to his appointment at the National Minerals Agency, he worked at the Public Sector Reform Unit as Financial Analyst, where he worked closely with the Ministry of Finance and contribute to the development of standard methodologies, regulations, manuals, standards of operation and checklist that would guide MDA’s in implementing reforms. He was also charged with building financial models and providing analytical support for capacity building and Public Sector Reform initiatives.

Mohamed also worked in the private Sector with Standard Chartered Bank as Business Finance manager where he was responsible for performing data analysis which was used for making key financial decisions and ensuring senior management understands financial implications arising from day to day business activities.

As Director of Finance and Administration at the NMA, he is responsible for managing, coordinating, direct and plan the operations of the Directorate in order that the objectives defined in the Agency’s strategic plan are met. This includes the preparation and assessment of strategic objectives and performance criteria for the Directorate as well as for staff under direct supervision.

Ensure the Agency’s values principles are upheld by staff under supervision and that they are aware of and motivated towards the Agency’s vision and strategic objectives, establish the NMA budget committee and liaise with NMA Directors, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources and the NMA Board to formulate the annual NMA strategic plan and annual budget.

Mohamed is also responsible for ensuring efficient management of all NMA financial resources, ensuring full compliance with the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act 2016 and PFM regulations 2018, and participate in the provision of effective financial and human resource planning and management.
