Mining Cadastre Office

The Mining Cadastre Office (MCO) is responsible for the management of the Mining Cadastre Administration System (MCAS) including the processing of mineral rights applications; the issuance and administration of licences and permits; the maintenance of cadastral records, registers and maps; and the receipt and safe-keeping of reports; all in an objective, non-discretionary and transparent manner in accordance with the laws of Sierra Leone. All applications, requests, communications regarding a mining licence and documents required to maintain and manage a licence must be addressed to the MCO, directly. This Unit sits within the Directorate of Mines at the National Minerals Agency’s Headquarters, New England Ville, Freetown.

At the MCO, we do coordinate validation and advice potential clients on the availability of areas of interest to ensure there are no overlaps between concessions. We also process all payments with the National Revenue Authority (NRA). This one-stop-shop procedure ensures fast and efficient processing of all applications and licence management requests.

All forms and guides available at the MCO can be downloaded from the “Schedules” page of the website where you can also find the cost of various services we offer.
